SENIOR OPTOELECTRONIC ENGINEER
The Company:
This Western State medical device company is
engaged in the design, manufacture, and distribution of electromechanical medical devices.
Products include both electronic hardware and single use disposables. The
Company markets its products on a global basis.
Reports to: Director
of Ultrasonic Engineering
Basic Function:
Provide hands on leadership and support for optoelectronics product research,
development, engineering, and manufacturing. Interface with customers, vendors
and internal departments to achieve success in product engineering. Provide guidance
to and work with engineers, engineering technicians, and manufacturing staff to achieve goals of engineering programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Manage development,
engineering, and research for optical device projects.
2. Identifies,
qualifies, and selects vendors and suppliers.
3. Develop and
supervises engineering testing processes for product development.
4. Prepares and
supports preparation of Device Instructions.
5. Assists and
supports manufacturing in product transfers.
6. Provides manufacturing
process assessments and development.
7. Reviews and
assists in preparation of manufacturing documentation.
8. Interfaces with
internal RA, QA, and other departments in meeting Company’s objectives.
9. Interfaces with
customers to achieve device/product goals.
10. Assists Marketing with new business
development.
11. Provides engineering support to new
market development.
Qualifications:
1. Four
year Bachelors Degree required.
2. Advanced
or Masters Degree preferred.
3. Optoelectronics
packaging work experience required.
4. Ten
years combined related work and/or training experience.
5. Completed
FER/EIT Exam (preferred)
6. Use
of CAD and other tools to support product design.
7. Experiences
include mechanical design; thermal, stress, and optical analysis/modeling.
8. Demonstrated
personal impact on approvable and saleable Medical devices.
9. Project management
experience.
10. Technical interface with customers.
11. Ability to interface with all levels
of management.
12. Superb written and communication skills
with a personal style that facilitates a win-win agreement.
13. Hands-on leader, understands manufacturing
practices, and can be mentor for other employees.
14. Understands Medical Device Regulations,
design controls, good manufacturing practices, and other regulations.
15. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple
projects and produce desired results within specific timeframes in support of a manufacturing environment.
16. Strong team player; ability to communicate
and work productively with associates at all levels of the organization.
Compensation:
Competitive base salary and participation in performance-based incentive program.
Travel:
Travel time of 15% is anticipated including domestic, and occasional international
travel.
